Energy Commercialization Institute (ECI) Funding 2011
Printer-friendly version

The Energy Commercialization Institute (ECI) announces two new funding opportunities:

1. The Energy Translational Research Fund (ETRF) is now accepting proposals for grants of up to $150,000 directly to institutional researchers to support projects with a high degree of potential commercial success. The deadline for preproposal submissions has been extended to Dec. 15, 2011.

2. The Energy Sponsored Research Agreement (ESRA) match program provides up to $40,000 in matching funds for multi-institution or single institution teams with an executed corporate SRA. The deadline is rolling for this program.

Proposal packages and detailed information for each opportunity can be downloaded below.

The ECI is the region's first multi-institutional partnership to accelerate alternative and clean energy technology development and commercialization, through translational research and sponsored research funding. ECI is focusing on high-impact energy generation, transportation and conservation. The Institute pools intellectual property from participating institutions, providing dedicated technology transfer services with expertise to promote energy commercialization. It offers corporations a single point of negotiation for IP licensing, independent of the number of institutions with ownership of that IP. Ben Franklin Tech Partners (Southeastern PA), Drexel University, and The University of Pennsylvania created the ECI, with $1.2 million from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Additional university partnerships include Penn State University, Villanova University, Philadelphia University, Widener University, and Temple University.
